چکیده

This paper describes the design, construction, and operation of a system devised to capture images of wildlife with a full 360 degrees of view. The system uses infrared detection in a circular configuration to detect movement of heat signatures and then relays that information to a base station via short distance radios. The base station uses a microcontroller to take this information and turn a camera using a stepper motor. When the camera is in the correct position it is triggered to take a picture. Images are stored on an internal SD Card, and are then transferred to a remote location via long distance radios where a user can view captured images without manually retrieving them. Low Cost UAV-based Remote Sensing for Autonomous Wildlife Monitoring

In recent years, developments in unmanned aerial vehicles, lightweight on-board computers, and low-cost thermal imaging sensors offer a new opportunity for wildlife monitoring. In contrast with traditional methods now surveying endangered species to obtain population and location has become more cost-effective and least time-consuming. In this paper, a low-cost UAV-based remote sensing platform...

Non-destructive Method for Estimating Biomass of Plants Using Digital Camera Images

Abstract Plant growth and biomass assessments are required in production and research. Such assessments are followed by major decisions (e.g., harvest timing) that channel resources and influence outcomes. In research, resources required to assess crop status affect other aspects of experimentation and, therefore, discovery. Destructive harvests are important because they influence treatment s...

A Proposed Simple Teleradiology System Using a Digital Camera

Background & Aims: Teleradiology as an efficient way for avoiding unnecessary transfer of patients to special medical centers requires the images with digital format. However, in some developing countries, including Iran, imaging is being done using non digital devices. In such cases, changing analog images into digital ones can solve the problem. The method which is nowadays used for digita...

Lasers For Remote Sensing At NASA

NASA is developing active remote sensors to monitor the health of Planet Earth and for exploration of other planets. Development and deployment of these remote sensors can have a huge economic impact. Lasers for these active remote sensors span the spectral range from the ultraviolet to the mid infrared spectral regions. Development activities range from quantum mechanical modeling and predicti...

Approximate Initialization of Camera Sensor Networks

Camera sensor networks—wireless networks of low-power imaging sensors—have become popular recently for monitoring applications. In this paper, we argue that traditional vision-based techniques for calibrating cameras are not directly suitable for low-power sensors deployed in remote locations. We propose approximate techniques to determine the relative locations and orientations of camera senso...
